COMOIL Private Limited in Lupane, Matabeleland North province has been found guilty of failing to meet the fuel quality regulations.

Comoil was represented by Livingstone Mubvumbi (42) who appeared before a Lupane magistrate facing charges of failing to meet the fuel quality regulations. They were found guilty of the charge and were fined US$250.

The court heard that on 6 December 2024, the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority inspected the Lupane Station and tested some samples.

The tests revealed that the ethanol content was above 50 percent, violating the E20 ZWS 964 standards. The tanks were sealed and samples were verified by the Standards Authority of Zimbabwe (SAZ) which confirmed the breach.

The matter was reported to the police leading to their arrest.
