Companies warm-up to national clean-ups

Norton-based tile manufacturing concern, Sunny Yi Feng Tiles, continues to take part in environment preservation initiatives and recently participated in a national clean-up campaign in support of the programme started by President Mnangagwa.

Sunny Yi Feng Tiles public relations officer Mr Abel Mukumba said education on environmental management is a key component for sustainable environmental management.

Sustainable environmental management began now and the company wanted responsibility on the environment.

“As Sunny Yi Feng Tiles Pvt Ltd we took part in a clean-up campaign in Norton at the Maridale residential area,” said Mr Mukumba.

“This clean-up campaign was targeted at clearing the illegal dumping area at St Padre Pio Clinic. It’s everyone’s right to practice proper waste management.”

He said as a corporates the firm was, “bound to support the community by providing materials for the clean-up campaign since it’s mostly the waste from the manufactured goods that cause pollution hence we need to play a crucial role in supporting this Environmental Management Agency’s initiative of the clean-up campaign on the first of every month.”

Norton Leos Club representative Mr Joshua Gautise said: “As the young generation we need to learn and practice proper waste management because it’s our future that lies in danger.” The clean-ups in urban areas were done to correct the rot by opposition led local authorities in most urban areas.
