A COMMUTER omnibus conductor landed himself in trouble after he shouted obscenities at traffic police officers who had impounded his vehicle.
Nqaphelani Ncube (28) pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct when he appeared before Mutare senior magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura.
He was warned and cautioned.
It was the State’s case led by Mr Donald Mudadirwa that Constables Marozva, Mpindu and Muringai were on traffic enforcement duty at St Joseph’s High School in Sakubva when they ordered Ncube to pay a fine for not having passengers insurance.
“The driver of the omnibus paid the fine, but as they drove away, Ncube shouted to the police saying: ‘Hindava muchida mari zvechibharanzi, mabhanditi.’(Why do you love money this foolishly, bandits? Because Ncube acted unlawfully, he was arrested,” said Mr Mudadirwa.
Asked on why he insulted the police officers, Ncube told the court that he did not want to offend the traffic officers as the word bandit is common in Zim-dancehall music circles.
