The just-ended 18th Zanu-PF Annual National People’s Conference held in Goromonzi was a resounding success as it focused on issues affecting the people and charted the economic recovery path.
Speaking in separate interviews, the party leadership hailed this year’s indaba and described it as a success story of the Second Republic under the leadership of its First Secretary and President, Cde Mnangagwa
Zanu-PF national spokesperson Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo said the indaba rejuvenated the party.
“The 18th Zanu-PF Annual National People’s Conference at Goromonzi High School in Mashonaland East Province ended on Saturday evening,14th of December 2019 and credit must go to his Excellency the President and First Secretary of Zanu-PF Cde Mnangagwa whose opening address on Friday set a revolutionary tone for the conference deliberations and whose closing address placed the mind-set of delegates into reflective, superlative commitment to grow and defend the party from internal and external detractors,’’ he said.
“The conference stuck to its theme: “Modernise, Mechanise and Grow the Economy Towards Vision 2030.” The agenda and programme were followed with strict discipline and seriousness of purpose, so were the thematic discussions in various committees and resolutions which ensued and they were unanimously passed by the conference.
“It was indeed a milestone conference, reflective of a people’s party as evidenced by the discipline and enthusiasm of delegates from all the 10 provinces whose care and welfare, including accommodation, food, sanitation and transport was second to none.”
“Messages of solidarity from various organisations were well received by the conference.’’
Cde Khaya Moyo thanked the hosts and everyone, urging the delegates to go and convey the message of hope and unity delivered by the President.
‘’One cannot tire to congratulate the President and First Secretary of the party Cde Mnangagwa, the Presidium, Politburo, Central Committee, provincial leadership and all delegates for such a successful conference,’’ he said.
“Special credit goes to Mashonaland East leadership for being such a superb host. A comprehensive overview of the conference will be released soon. With the blessing of the rains on us and unity within the party, the future can only be bright and rewarding to the entire nation.’’
Zanu-PF national chairman, Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri, hailed the unity of purpose exhibited by the delegates.
“As we close another national peoples conference, I wish to start by acknowledging the singleness of purpose that has, once again, characterised our conference.”
“We have been one in reaffirming our nationhood and sovereignty.’’
Zanu-PF secretary for administration Cde Obert Mpofu said the indaba was a unique and focused event.
“This was the most successful conference which covered bread and butter issues,” he said.
“The conference was held in a unique and focused manner than other previous conferences.”
“Government ministers all came back to give feedback to the party on the state of their line ministries. Delegates were also involved as they took part in the thematic committees’ deliberations.”
