Conference helps men tackle mental health challenges

Hundreds of men from Marondera recently received spiritual and practical guidance after attending a men’s conference called ‘King’s Meet’ that was organised by UFIC Marondera Pastor Emmanuel Emmanuel.

The conference, which was held about 13,2 km out of Marondera, was aimed at restoring men to their rightful place as kings, fighters, and providers.

In an interview, Pastor Emmanuel said the inspiration behind the conference was his church leader, Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa.

“You listen to most of his messages; they have a bias towards men reigning, men being restored to their positions as men,” he said.

“Prophet Makandiwa is the proper model of what a man is, a successful leader, businessman, and family man.”

The conference, he said, was meant to be a sanctuary, a resting place for men from all sources of life to refresh their minds and receive life lessons, all without financial barrier.

“Our target is not making a profit. The event was completely free, including transport for local men and food. It was a prophetic declaration of abundance,” he said.

“My wish is that the same way food was abundant here, food should also be abundant in their homes.”

Dr Wilfred Mutewei spoke on health and sexuality, which was followed by a bonfire question and answer.

Inventor and farmer Bereni Stockil highlighted the issue of divine inspiration in entrepreneurship, while a boxing tournament served as a physical metaphor for the core tenet of the conference.

“If you are not willing to fight, you are not willing to be a king,” said Pastor Emmanuel.

“To achieve and to sustain, you need to be a fighter.”

A lot of participants also responded to an altar call where they rededicated their lives to Christ.

“I couldn’t hold back my tears. I kept crying the whole day,” he said.

The event concluded with a family fun day and communion where fathers, as the pastors of the family, served their households.

Jairos Mutambi, one of the participants, said he benefited a lot from the King’s Meet conference.

“It heralded a new beginning for me. As men, our roles have been belittled for several reasons and we have been suffering in silence,” he said.

“A lot of men are suffering from mental health issues in silence, but coming here made a big difference. We had a bonfire question and answer session, which touched and empowered us from our daily struggles.”

Pastor Emanuel said they are now shifting focus to the one-day international conference set for the end of this month that will be led by Prophet Makandiwa.
