Actress, Connie Ferguson, who plays the iconic Karabo Moroka role on Generations – The Legacy is leaving the show.
According to a statement released by the show’s publicity manager Gaaratwe Mokhethi yesterday, Ferguson asked to be released from her contract as she has been working on a couple of projects that “need her undivided attention”.
Show producers had no option but to let her go so that she focuses on other ventures which include running the highly successful Ferguson Films which are responsible for Rockville and more recently Igazi.
“It’s with great disappointment that we’ve to announce the departure of the much-loved Karabo Moroka, played by the talented Connie Ferguson,” Mokhethi said.
“She’s working on a couple of projects that need her undivided attention and has asked to be released from her contract.”
However, Connie will still appear on screen for the next couple of months as her exit scenes have not been shot as yet.
“Generations: The Legacy family wishes her all the best with her endeavours and trusts she will continue playing a key role in the industry,” Mokhethi said.
Her departure serves as yet another blow for the Generations family as Ferguson’s on-screen husband Tau Mogale, played by Rapulana Seiphemo, was recently involved in a car accident. The couple’s romance set tongues wagging when Karabo was cheating on Tau and later opted to take a second husband. Social media did not hold back from creating memes of the couple, making fun of their situation.
“Karabo is one character that set tongues wagging and her exit will be no different. Fans need to stay glued to Generations – The Legacy to see how Karabo’s controversial story unfolds,” said Mokhethi.
The show’s creator and executive producer Mfundi Vundla also expressed his appreciation, saying Connie was a “significant figure” in the construction of the soapie.
“I’ll eternally be grateful for that and her contribution to the growth of our industry,” Vundla said. – Channel24/Citizen.
