LONDON. – Arsene Wenger and Antonio Conte have both heaped praise on Manchester City after their devastating start to the 2017-18 soccer season. City have won 11 of their first 12 English Premier League games of the campaign – scoring an incredible 40 goals – and made light work of their Champions League group, securing qualification to the knockout stages with two games to spare.
Following Saturday’s 2-0 win at Leicester City, Claude Puel called Pep Guardiola’s side the “best team in Europe”, while Martin Keown suggested they could match Arsenal’s “Invincibles” by going through an entire season unbeaten.
Gunners boss Wenger, who saw his side beaten 3-1 at the Etihad earlier in the month, said: “Manchester City is on another planet with the results. “That’s why, two weeks ago, I was so angry because they didn’t need that help.”
Conte, meanwhile, admitted it will be difficult for Chelsea to defend their Premier League crown as City continue to march on in imperious fashion. – AFP.
