DEPUTY Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Kindness Paradza, has assured local content creators that the market for their content will become available as the Government continues to liberalise the airwaves.

He said it’s time for content creators to shine and make money out of the increased number of television stations in the country.

Dep Minister Paradza made the remarks during a tour of new player in the TV industry, NRTV, in Milton Park yesterday.

“Competition is good since it improves the quality of programmes that will be broadcast on the air. I am very happy to inform the nation that NRTV is already on air, but it’s now waiting to improve to be on digital telecom technology.

“We now have big business in Zimbabwe in terms of content creators because all these new players need content which then promotes local content creators.

“We encourage all content creators to do their best in producing quality programmes that will entertain the nation,” he said.

Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) chief executive officer, Tendai Kapumha, said they have given licences to six commercial television stations and so fa,r four of them are up.

“As BAZ we have approved the settlement boxes of the first batches in Beira and that first batch will be   distributed on the first day of next month as per policy guidance and this will continue as when resources are available.

“The main reason is to make sure that people have access to the signals on the DTT,” he said.
