Durban pupil due in court for school murder
A teenager will appear in a Durban court on Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed a fellow pupil to death at a school, KwaZulu-Natal police said. Two teenage boys stabbed each other with knives during a fight at the Fairvale Secondary School in Wentworth on Tuesday, Colonel Vincent Mdunge said.
“All we know is there were two boys that had a fight, but we don’t know what had sparked the confrontation.”

The two pupils were taken to hospital where one, aged 15, died from his wounds. He had been stabbed in his chest three times, and right arm.
The other pupil, who was stabbed in his chest, was in his parents’ custody at hospital. His case might be heard by the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court in absentia. Mdunge said while police had not noticed an increase in violence between school children, bullying at school remained an issue. In Gauteng on Tuesday morning, an 18-year-old boy shot dead a pupil he had accused of bullying him, in a classroom at the Phineas Xulu Secondary School in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni. — Sowetan.

All is well that ends well for unheralded star Bryan Kadengu who won big in StarBrite finals, a talent search show held over the weekend.
The Chinhoyi-based musician walked away with a Honda Fit vehicle, all expenses paid trips to the US, South Africa, Germany and Victoria Falls, Samsung 32 inch LCD TV, recording contract with Tuku Music, a residential stand and a Blackberry handset.

Other winners were Amanda Manyowa of Harare and Xolani Ndhlovu of Bulawayo who came second and third respectively. Manyowa received a performance trip to South Africa, a recording contract with Tuku Music, singing mentorship with Hugh Masekela, Judith Sephuma and Louis Mhlanga in South Africa, an iPad, an android handset, and paid-up gym membership among others. Ndhlovu received a recording contract with Tuku Music, a laptop and an android phone.
In the poetry category, Promise Madavanhu from Masvingo, came first with Nomore Dovi as the runner-up.

The dancing category saw Harare-based Magesh piping Hard Mashona to clinch the top spot.
Takudzwa Mashonganyika took the Special Talent category. For his poetic exploits, Madavanhu took home a residential stand, laptop, and android phone among other gifts.
His runner-up, Dovi, got an android phone, headphone set and Oceane perfume hamper. Magesh Tornadoes, the dancing champions collected a laptop, laptop bag, two android phones and a residential stand.

Hard Mashona received an android phone and Oceane perfume hampers. Barney Mpariwa, the brains behind the talent show said the competition has grown over the years.
