A POLICE officer was attacked in the early hours of Monday night, while walking along a street in Zengeza, and sustained a deep cut on the left eye.
He also lost his mobile phone during the attack.
He was rushed to Chitungwiza Central Hospital.
Constable Farukai Arnot Kamvura, 38, who is based at St Mary’s Police Station, was hit by an object at around 2am, while walking along Hwata Road in Zengeza.
He was coming from a shopping centre, in civilian attire, when an unidentified man attacked him.
He sustained a deep cut on his left eye.
He was later assisted by a well-wisher who took him to Chitungwiza Central Hospital where he was treated and discharged.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said the accused person searched his trousers pockets and stole an Iphone 11 Pro cellphone and fled the scene.
“Police are investigating a robbery case involving weapons in Zengeza.
“The accused person was not located and the complainant sustained a cut on the left eye and was treated and discharged at Chitungwiza Hospital.
“Total value stolen is US$300,” said Insp Chakanza.
