A POLICE Inspector based at Ntabazinduna Training Depot has dragged a female subordinate to court for sending him offensive messages via mobile phone. Constable Temptation Muchecheti, 24, appeared before Magistrate Nyasha Kuture early this week facing a charge of contravening the Telecommunications Act. She was remanded out of custody to tomorrow for judgment.
Muchecheti denied the charge, arguing that it was not her cellphone which was used to send the offending messages in March last year.
She also told the court that her problems with Inspector Kudakwashe Nyamuziwa, 47, emanated from a love affair, which turned sour.
Prosecuting, Munyonga Kuvarega said on March 14 last year shortly after 3PM, Nyamuziwa received an insulting message from a NetOne number.
The message written in Shona and translated into English reads, “What is the purpose of lying? That is why you do not have anything in your life even a blanket while others have their personal cars.”
The policewoman is also alleged to have said Nyamuziwa was so poor that he did not own any underwear.
Nyamuziwa then made a report to the police.
Investigations indicated that the mobile line that was used to send the messages was registered in Tedious Zione’s name, Muchecheti’s brother, but she was using it.
Muchecheti was arrested after she was found in possession of the mobile line.
