Cop, petrol attendant in court for fuel theft

A policeman and a Bulawayo petrol attendant   yesterday  appeared   in   court facing charges of defrauding ZRP Ntabazinduna Training Depot of 184 litres of diesel worth more than $256. Thomson Singadi (30), a police officer residing   at   House   Number   17    Scott Road,   North   End   in   Bulawayo   and Nkosilathi   Ngwenya   (22)   a   petrol attendant   employed   by   Sakunda   Petroleum in   Tshababala   and   residing   at   House   Number   70565   Lobengula   West,   pleaded not guilty to fraud charges when they appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Mrs Marilyn Mutshina.

They were remanded to 4 July on $50 bail each.
The prosecutor, Mr Dumisani Moyo, said on 27 May, Singadi and Ngwenya hatched a plan to steal fuel belonging to the ZRP Ntabazinduna Training Depot, which was being kept at Sakunda Petroleum Service Station in Tshababala.

Singadi then allegedly completed a fuel voucher purporting that it was an allocation for two station vehicles.
He then went to Sakunda Petroleum Service Station where he teamed up with Ngwenya and allegedly stole 72 litres of diesel worth $100,80.
They sold the fuel and shared the money, the court was told.

The following day, the two allegedly connived again and stole another 112 litres of diesel worth $156,80.
They allegedly sold the fuel and shared the money.

In an attempt to cover up the alleged offence, Singadi completed a fuel voucher purporting   that   the   stolen   fuel   was allocated to two police vehicles.

Investigations conducted by police led to the arrest of Singadi and Ngwenya.
