Copac suspends its activities

it into all major languages spoken in the country, conduct public awareness campaigns of its content and organise a Second All Stakeholders’ Conference.
But Copac spokesperson Ms Jessie Majome said all that was suspended pending the deliberations by the principals. “There were so many things that had been lined up. All those activities have been suspended until the issue on the amendments has been finalised,” she said. Zanu-PF Copac co-chairperson Cde Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana confirmed that there was little business at the organisation until his party’s proposed amendments were addressed.
“It is only natural (suspension of business) because of the amendments raised by Zanu-PF,” he said. “So, until that matter is resolved there is no way other programmes can proceed.”
MDC-T Copac co-chairman Mr Douglas Mwonzora said the little work they were doing was on preparations for the Second All Stakeholders’ Conference. He said the dates were yet to be agreed on.
“Yes, there is nothing really going on at Copac at the moment and the little work being done concerns the preparations for the Second All Stakeholders’ Conference, although we do not have the dates at the moment,” he said.
Copac initially wanted to have the Second All Stakeholders’ Conference before the end of this month.
But this has been affected by the proposals by Zanu-PF to amend the draft the constitution.
