Cops, health experts raid ‘clinic’

his Chinamhora house.
Oskar Wurmsdobler (60) of Nyamande Village under chief Chinhamhora is also alleged to have been treating patients with different ailments for the past six years.
He is also alleged to have masqueraded as a medical doctor and pharmacist dispensing drugs.
It is alleged that during the period from January 2006 to February this year, Wurmsdobler who is not a registered pharmacist got a consignment of pharmaceutical drugs from Europe.
Wurmsdobler, it is alleged, operated a private clinic at his house practicing as a pharmacist. It is alleged that he used one of the rooms to store the drugs.
Police and health officials from Makumbi Mission Hospital recovered various drugs, which had labels written in a foreign language. Among the medicines were 160 small bottles of vial and 200 sachets of powdered drugs and various types of capsules. Wurmsdobler has since appeared in court charged for contravening Section 124 (1)(b) of the Health Profession Act.
The section criminalises practicing as or representing oneself as a pharmacist without being registered.
He was not formally charged when he appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma who remanded him in custody to April 10 this year.
The court wants immigration officials to verify his status in Zimbabwe.
In January, police arrested a bogus doctor, who made a non-governmental organisation believe he was qualified before working for them for six months. Blessing Gama (42) was arrested at Kaguvi Building following a tip-off to the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare by management at Christian Medical Aid Society who questioned his credentials and conduct. The court heard that Pardon Muvengwa (32) was once a nurse at the referral hospital before being discharged for misconduct.
