Cops hunt for two cattle rustlers

The suspects have been identified as Magugu Phiri, Norman Phiri, Vusa Mpofu, Richard Manyathela, Evans Nkomo, Khumbulani Mkandla, Dominic Makhosi Senziwani Maseko and a man only known as Samadhau.

Police in Binga have launched a manhunt for two suspected cattle rustlers who allegedly stole six cattle from villagers in the area.

The two allegedly sold the stolen cattle to Golden Siamajaya, who was found slaughtering one of the beasts.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the case.

“Police in Binga are appealing for information which may assist in the arrest of Never Macheke, Bhudhiza Sphondivi and their accomplices identified as Sainjiba and Samakhabo,” he said.

“The suspects are being sought in connection with a case of stock theft which occurred at Chitete Village, Lusulu, Binga on July 18, 2024 where six cattle were stolen.

“The suspects sold the stolen cattle to Golden Siamajaya who was caught slaughtering one of the cattle at Simuachemba Village, Lusulu, Binga on August 19, 2024,” he said.

The incident comes at a time when such cases are on the increase countrywide and police have arrested some of the suspects while others are still at large.
