Corporate leaders must believe in ethics

governments and technology companies are attending the summit held under a dual theme, “Preparing Africa for the digital revolution” and “Bridging the digital divide”.
Representatives from the Brazil, Russia, India, China and the host South Africa (BRICS) also graced the summit.
While South African President Jacob Zuma is expected to officially open the event tomorrow experts in the communications sector were keen to see issues on infrastructure development, broadband interventions, cloud computing, cyber security, enabling policy formulation, among others being tackled during the four-day summit.

South Africa’s Communications Minister, Dina Pule, was due to deliver the key keynote address focusing on migration from analogue to digital broadcasting and how ICT has improved lives in the country and across the continent.
She will also deliberate on governments’ effort in ensuring that ICT played a pivotal role in economic growth, job creation and service delivery.
Also present at ICT Indaba is the International Telecommunications Union regional director for Africa, Andrew Rugege, lined up to speak about strategic alliances for ICT infrastructure development.

African Development Bank president Donald Kaberuka was due to give insights on international perspectives for infrastructure development in developing countries, in particular the African continent. MTN South Africa managing director Karel Pinaar will discuss ways of realising the knowledge economy through comprehensive policy environment.

Huawei Technologies chief executive officer for Africa, Peng Song, will deliberate on the 2020 Vision —100 percent broadband penetration and its outcomes when fully implemented.

The four-day summit is expected to unlock economic opportunities for African governments, entrepreneurial ICT companies, individuals and sectors of the economy in order to have a better tomorrow. — CAJ News.
