Corporate security vital

security is defined in three stages — information, cyber and physical security.
Information security is broadly termed as the protection of information used for the day- to-day operations of the company and these can be clientele lists, values of orders, quantities purchased. This information on the global scale is very valuable and if it falls into the wrong hands it can spell disaster for any company.
A clear testament of information security is the way the Coca-Cola Company closely guards their secret recipe for their world- renowned drink and flagship brand Coca-Cola. This recipe has been the source of speculation with researchers over the world spending millions of dollars trying to copy the drink without success.
As indicated, Zimbabwe is part of the global village, cyber security is a huge investment that companies have made the world over to protect their cyber information from attack.
Over the past years there have been attempted attacks on networks through the internet. Firewalls, anti-viruses, anti-spam and filters have been developed to protect from cyber threats lurking in the shadows of the global village.
Due to the growing threat levels in the world most companies have invested heavily in protecting their assets — intellectual and physical — and it has paid off.
Where large investment in research is undertaken, innovation is born. The requirement of innovation over the years has grown yielding the best results on development of products and services. The best security feature we as humans have is our biometric identity.
We have discovered that no two people have the same fingerprint or eye retina and these features have been exploited to provide universal security features that merges the usage of these human characteristics as identification tools.
SecurExpo will make use of these features through the installation of a facial and fingerprint identification system for access to the conference and expo business day. What this entails for attendees is fast, paperless enrolment, efficient delegate sign in and out to the expo.
Still on corporate innovation a local company Tendo Electronics has hinted the launch of a first of its kind truly revolutionary system at SecurExpo.
Tendo Electronics indicated that they are keeping the major details of the system a closely guarded secret till the time of the expo, but their preparations are at an advanced stage.
Marketing manager for Tendo Electronics Mr Chatanga Badza confirmed the launch and demonstration of their closely guarded revolutionary system believed to be years ahead of any current system on the Zimbabwe market today.
Mr Badza encouraged visitors to attend the Tendo Electronics stand and discover a truly revolutionary product that will change the face of the market in Zimbabwe and what better platform to do this but at the ground-breaking inaugural SecurExpo.
SecurExpo event director Conrad Chibanda said corporate security would be on the                spotlight at the SecurExpo as the next generational innovations will be on showcase at the event.
The global village has made our companies international through the internet. As positive as this may be we are now at risk from cyber elements which is why we need an international platform to address these adverse effects that will affect our corporate viability.
Dubbed the event to attend for 2012, we aim to provide an umbrella theme for every sector attendee either in your personal and professional capacity.
As the regional focus is now on Zimbabwe for the event, it is our role to provide a quality event and with the support we have received to date, we can expect the event to grow bigger and better every year.
It should be a true testament that as Zimbabwean we can achieve a regional showcase with international standards.
Leadership Conference will be held on March 14 2012. Business Days will be March 15 & 16 2012, Public Days will be Saturday March 17 2012. Entry is free.
