MUTARE City Council is considering scrapping payment of rates for all churches expect those running businesses on their premises.

Addressing the 1336 Full Council Meeting today at Civic Centre, Mutare mayor, Councillor Simon Chabuka, said: “My proposal is that the planning department should go on the ground and place some notices that those who want exemption should write to the council and that can be processed. This, however, may exclude those running businesses on their premises. Let us refer this issue to the relevant committee for further deliberations.”
