CONSTRUCTION of two classroom blocks through the Constituency Development Funds, (CDF) is set to alleviate the shortage of infrastructure at council owned Kubatana Secondary School.
This was revealed by Member of Parliament for Chinhoyi Constituency, Engineer Leslie Mhangwa, during the ground breaking ceremony of two classroom blocks at the school on Friday.
Mhangwa said the construction of the classroom blocks will improve the educational infrastructure as adequate classrooms facilities are crucial for providing a conducive learning environment.
More classroom blocks can help alleviate overcrowding, allowing for better student-teacher ratios and enhancing the learning experience.
He said building the classroom blocks at the local council school will improve access to education for children in the area, especially in underserved communities. Mhangwa said investing the CDF in education promotes overall community development by allocating funds to the school.
He said quality education contributes to long- term development of the constituency.
He said an educated population is more likely to contribute positively to the economy and society, reducing poverty and improving living standards.
“ What pushed us is the fact that the majority of residents are now on this side of town and Nemakonde was a sole school that provided secondary education.
“When Kubatana came in, it came in, but it had skeletal infrastructure, so as somebody who is very passionate about education, that was my first project and this was collaborated by people when we did our consultations,” said Mhangwa.
He added:
“ They said we should start with a classroom block and today I am happy we hit the ground running,” he said.
Mhangwa said using CDF is part of addressing inequality as it ensures that all learners, regardless of their socio-economic background, have access to quality education.
