Council partners IOM, ZNA to build clinic

Beitbridge Rural District Council (BBRDC) has entered into a public private partnership with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) to construct a clinic that will serve 6 000 people in Beitbridge East constituency.

In an interview on Monday, council chief executive Mr Peter Moyo said Chabili Clinic in Ward 2 was almost complete. He said the health institution was expected to open its doors to the public in a few weeks.

“The council and IOM contributed the material, while ZNA provided labour,” said Mr Moyo. “So far, the main structure is complete and we are working on fencing the area and connecting the clinic to piped water.

“The completion of the Chabili project will go a long way in improving service delivery and access to health facilities for people living in ward 2.” Mr Moyo said they entered into a partnership with IOM and the ZNA to accelerate infrastructure development in the district.

He said the clinic would benefit people from Chabili, Lungowe, Lukange, Lukungwe, Madaulo and those from Headman Tshikwelengwe’s area. Mr Moyo said they had six primary health care centres — Shabwe, Tshituripasi, Chaswingo, Makombe, Dite and Tshikwalakwala.

“We are mobilising resources to build two more clinics in Beitbridge East Constituency,” he said. “In addition, we are working with the community in Ward 13 to set up another clinic at Mazunga,” said Mr Moyo.
