Chitungwiza Municipality is set to improve its road projects after receiving funds from the Government to buy road construction equipment under the Emergency Roads Rehabilitation Programme.

The Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (Zinara) disbursed $293 866 to the local authority to buy a new tipper truck and backhoe loader.

In an interview, Chitungwiza works manager Engineer Emmanuel Mushata confirmed the development.

“We received funds from Zinara to buy a new tipper truck and a backhoe loader,” he said. “The gesture is much appreciated as we were borrowing zipper trucks from the health department to do our road works which also have outlived their shelf life.

“For a long time we have been hiring a backhoe loader, purchase of our own will help us save funds.”

Eng Mushata said they were still inviting tenders for the supply of the equipment.
