HARARE City Council says it will start charging for some services in US dollars with immediate effect.

Speaking during a Council meeting, Harare Town Clerk, Hosiah Chisango, said this will enable them to carry out their mandate.

“There are certain recommendations which we have put in place so that we can be able to keep the value of our money.

“We want to start billing in US dollars immediately, so we are expecting the July bills to come in US dollars.

“For payments, according to the laws, people will be able to pay either in foreign or local currency depending on the rate of that particular day.”

He added:

“There are other charges which include plan approval fees, and other services, which we propose be paid in US dollars only.

“We managed to meet members of the RBZ Monetary Policy Committee and presented this to them.”
