WARD 6 Epworth Councillor Civilised Bushe (Zanu PF) was today sworn into office at Epworth Local Board.

Town clerk Dr Wilton Mhanda said the swearing-in was witnessed by a representative from the Ministry of Local Government and some councillors.

In an interview, Clr Bushe said he was going to take care of Ward 6 residents as he had also lived in the ward for almost 30 years.

“The suffering of Ward 6 residents should come to an end. Water and roads have started improving since the by-elections,” he said.

“I also wish for children to get education and health for everyone. Everyone should have housing by 2028. Everyone who is not doing anything should have something to do by 2028.”

Cllr Bushe said Epworth should move in tandem with other suburbs, towns and local boards.

“We now have roads, water, and we are giving our children projects to do,” he said.

Clr Bushe said with the help of Cde Kudakwashe Tagwireyi, Jah B from Mbare, Harare Province, chairman, Cde Godwills Masimirembwa, he managed to win the August 2 by-elections.

The councillor said he was taking care of 600 children in Epworth through a company that he runs and through farming.

“I have nearly 70 hectares that also help people in Epworth with food,” he said.

Clr Bushe said the issue of graveyards had also improved.

“I think they are now looking for a better place. Residents of Epworth were being buried at cemeteries such as Zororo or Ruwa yet there was space for cemeteries locally.

“I think it has now been fixed,” he said.

Clr Bushe said by 2028, all Epworth residents will have a place to stay.

The Ward 6 seat fell vacant following the conviction of former deputy mayor for Epworth Cllr Nobody Makoni.
