Mr Jinga still chairs council meetings despite the nomination of another councillor to replace him.
He was fired from the MDC-T in June for alleged corruption after being accused of playing a key role in awarding a US$2 million road rehabilitation tender without following procedures.
The party then ordered some of its councillors in the MDC-T dominated council to replace Mr Jinga as RDC chairman with Ward 20 councillor Mr Jemson Makovere.
But Mr Jinga maintains that the people and not the MDC-T elected him into Gutu RDC and so the party had no power to fire him.
“I received a letter from the MDC-T provincial executive informing me that I had been fired, but those who wish to see my back from the MDC-T and Gutu RDC are just dreaming.
“I am still in charge of Gutu RDC operations and no one has the power to fire me.”
MDC-T Masvingo provincial chairman, Mr Wilstaf Sitemere, maintained that Mr Jinga was no longer a member of the party.
“He was fired from the MDC-T and is no longer a member of our party e may be in the Gutu RDC council, but as far as the MDC-T is concerned, our new RDC chairman for Gutu is Councillor Makovere.”
