Councillor Masvingise wins Gutu East Zanu PF primary polls

Gutu Rural District Ward 14 Councillor, Cde Zvarevashe Masvingise will represent the ruling party in the upcoming Gutu East parliamentary by-election after he romped to victory in primary elections held on Wednesday.

Cde Masvingise got 4 837 votes, followed by Cde Christopher Mashuro who got 967 votes.

Cde Nobert Chikumbo got 402 votes, Cde Maone Veremu (289 votes), Cde Phineas Chagonda (270 votes) and Cde Nicholas Chiname (157 votes).

The results were announced by Zanu PF Masvingo provincial chairman, Cde Rabson Mavhenyengwa, who was the presiding officer.

The date of the by-election is yet to be announced by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission. The seat fell vacant following the expulsion of Mr Benjamin Ganyiwa from Zanu PF.

All the candidates in the by-elections have pledged to support Cde Masvingise to help deliver the seat to Zanu PF.
