Appearing before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini, Chapfika pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He was remanded to Friday for trial continuation.
In his defence, Chapfika told the court that on the day in question, he went to Unit K where Cyrus Marufu resides to inquire why the latter’s relative identified as Batsirai Kwindima was peddling lies to wreck his marriage.
He said Marufu insulted and called him an illiterate person paying for his lack of education.
Chapfika told the court that this culminated in a heated argument and Marufu being punched on the left eye.
Prosecutor Mr Lovet Muringwa alleged that on February 12 this year, Chapfika drove in the evening with his relatives.
He allegedly accused Kwindima of peddling lies to his wife.
He said Chapfika, who had been accused of starting a fight, allegedly traded insults with Marufu.
The argument allegedly degenerated into a fight and Chapfika drew a knife.
He allegedly stabbed Marufu once on the left brow.
Chapfika, according to the State, was restrained from assaulting Marufu further by some of his relatives.
Marufu reported the matter to the police leading to Chapfika’s arrest.
