JCI applauds Zim youths

Mr Acquaye was in Zimbabwe on a five-day working visit.
“I have been motivated by the young Zimbabweans who have taken ownership of their country’s resources. They have taken the time to address things that other countries view as unimportant while they are essential,” he said.

The JCI is a non-profit making organisation that mobilises innovative young people to spearhead development in their countries.
The organisation is found in more than 100 countries.
The Ghanaian also hailed the work being done by the local JCI.

He, however, highlighted that more needed to be done in the local chapter.
The local chapter JCI also announced two prestigious award nominations for an awards ceremony set for September.
The awards are for the 10 most outstanding young people of Zimbabwe and Creative young entrepreneurs’ awards.

“We are inviting the public to nominate young people aged between 18-40 years who have excelled in their businesses or have brought about innovations to improve businesses,” the JCI national executive vice president Itai Manyere said.
The Creative Young Entrepreneurs nominations would, however, be judged by the chamber’s international leaders.

“We have partnered with different organisations, businesses and different community leaders. The prizes for those who will make it will depend on what the sponsors are going to bring forward.
The most important thing however is formally recognising and honouring them and not through monetary forms.
