A HARARE man, who refused to pay for repair services on his vehicle claiming the mechanic he had entrusted with the car left it in a worse condition, has been ordered by the court to settle his bill.

Mufudze Sekiwa appeared before Harare Civil Court magistrate, Ms Tildah Mazhande, who ordered him to settle his dues to Ronnie Ngwenya.

The court heard that sometime in June this year, Sekiwa left his car with Ngwenya who had charged US$100 for repairs.

Sekiwa told the court that: “I did not pay the money on the grounds that the car was in a worse state compared to when l left it with Ngwenya for repairs.

“He was also asking for further payments amounting to US$75.”

In response, Ngwenya told the court that Sekiwa had assaulted him over the issue. “Sekiwa assaulted me at some point and l could no longer talk to him to ask for my money” said Ngwenya.

In passing judgement, Ms Mazhande ordered Sekiwa to pay Ngwenya $860 they had both agreed on in an affidavit before the court proceedings
