ALL aspiring reggae and Zim dancehall artistes based in Mutare will have the chance to shine and an opportunity to showcase their talents every week when they gather at entertainment centre Courtauld Theatre for the newly introduced Fire Fridays.There will be a lot of activities happening at the entertainment hub every week after the art directors introduced hip-hop nights and sungura afternoons late last year and early this year respectively.
Hip-hop nights are held every Thursdays, while sungura afternoon is held on Saturday. The theatre has managed to a laudable extent foster and nurture artistic talent in Mutare since its rebranding late last year.
In an interview, the venue’s art director, Henry Tsopotsa, said the Fire Fridays will start this Friday (tomorrow).
“Mutare’s finest wheel spinners and musicians such as Action Fire, Fire Child, Five Yard Sound, Anti badness, Blacka di Blocka and Ambassador JC will be providing entertainment every Friday. We are looking forward to unleash untapped talent as we seek to promote art in the province,” said Tsopotsa.
He paid tribute to various stakeholders including modelling agencies as well as arts and entertainment promoters who have partnered them in promoting arts and developing talent in Mutare and beyond.
So far the venue has hosted several musicians and events such as Madiz, Extra Large, Tony D, Cup Clash dancehall finals and Miss Summer.
