REIGNING Zifa Southern Region coach of the year Try Ncube says he has been frustrated by the ban on all football activities as the world continues to fight the spread of Covid-19.
Ncube got Bulawayo City promoted to the Premier Soccer League after clinching the Southern Division One title before he quit the local authority side at the beginning of the year to join Victoria Falls-based side Mosi Rovers.
He took over the Mosi Rovers coaching position from Mehluli Moyo who had assumed the role on a voluntary basis after the departure of Gift Lunga Junior.
All football activities in the country have been frozen due to the coronavirus outbreak. The Government has implemented a 21-day lockdown as part of measures to curtail the spread of the virus.
Ncube had just completed the assembling of his side when the effects of Covid-19 hit the country.
“It’s very frustrating. We gave the boys some individual training programmes and we are trying to make follow ups and check-ups to see if they are really doing the training at their homes. It’s a very weird situation but the best under the circumstances, given that health and life come first. At the moment what is of concern is not football but everyone’s health.
“We are all in a difficult situation. It is our hope that we get this whole situation behind us and get back to playing football,” said Ncube.
Zimbabwe has so far recorded eleven cases of Covid-19 and two deaths.
Over 1,4 million people have been infected by the virus globally and more than 83 000 deaths have been recorded. — @innocentskizoe
