THE Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in increased demand for information communication technologies, an ICT expert has said.
Speaking at the 2022 Consumer Satisfaction Survey report launch, Postal and Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) deputy director general, Alfred Marisa, said as the telecoms regulator, they should protect customers.
“As the sector regulator, we are alive to the need to advance and protect consumers, especially as ICTs are increasingly taking centre-stage in the way we live, work, learn and interact socially.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has manifested this fact of life in a very significant way. We are witnessing a surge in the uptake of ICTs in areas like e-learning, teleworking, telemedicine and online transacting, among others.
“This requires us to focus our efforts towards ensuring inclusive access to affordable and high quality postal and ICT services as well as empowering and safeguarding their rights in the use of postal and ICT services.”
He said telecoms and postal companies should assess clients’ overall perceptions on the quality of service.
“We should aim to establish the consumer satisfaction levels among consumers of the telecommunications, postal and courier services in Zimbabwe,” he said.
