Cowdray Park residents condemn attack on family

Residents of Cowdray Park have expressed outrage and fear following a violent attack on Mr Maxwell Ndlovu, his wife Portia Ndebele, and their three children at their home in the suburb.

The family was reportedly assaulted under unclear circumstances by assailants wearing Zanu-PF regalia, sparking concerns about politically motivated violence in the community.

A neighbour who wished to remain anonymous revealed, “The family was attacked late at night. The attackers were clearly identifiable by their Zanu-PF clothing. It’s disturbing because this is not the first time the Ndlovu family has been targeted. They were previously attacked after attending a Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) rally. It seems their political affiliation has made them a target.”

Mrs. Anna Muchinjo, another resident, said, “The Ndlovus have not been in Cowdray Park for very long, but this kind of violence is tearing our community apart. We fear for our safety when political differences lead to such brutal acts. No one should live in fear in their own home.”

The attack has reignited tensions in Cowdray Park, a suburb that has recently been in the spotlight due to various violent incidents, including a triple murder linked to a family dispute and a series of robberies by a notorious gang that was recently jailed for a combined 629 years .

Community leaders have called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the attack thoroughly and ensure the safety of all residents regardless of their political beliefs. “Political violence has no place in our community,” said a local civic leader. “We urge the police to act swiftly and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

The Ndlovu family is currently receiving medical attention and support from neighbours, but the emotional and psychological impact of the attacks remains profound. Residents are urging for increased security measures and dialogue to prevent further politically motivated violence in Cowdray Park.
