WHAT is going wrong at Cranborne Bullets?
That is the question many supporters in the MCM Estates Northern Region Division One league are asking after the army side’s recent poor run of form.
Cranborne Bullets have long been a familiar name in Division One circles, but in the current NRSL standings they find themselves rooted at the bottom of the table.
Barely a month ago, the mood around the ground was completely different.
The club unveiled a sponsorship package, and the message from patron Jabulani Mulambo was clear: the team would be pushing for promotion.
Several corporates came on board with sponsorship packages that provided a major boost heading into the new season.
Mulambo, speaking during a kit unveiling ceremony, assured sponsors that the championship would come to the club.
“We promise to do our best and make sure we gain promotion.
“We as The Hurricanes are happy with the kind gesture and continued support, we are getting, and we promise to do our best and make sure we gain promotion,” Mulambo said then.
Now, the reality looks far harsher.
Cranborne Bullets are yet to win in four matches, having collected just a single draw and suffered three defeats.
Their defensive record has also been alarming: the Bullets have conceded eight goals in four games, leaving them with the league’s most porous back line.
Their attack has been equally blunt, with the team scoring only two goals.
Meanwhile, exciting fixtures are lined up, with matches scheduled from tomorrow through Sunday.
Tomorrow, Cranborne Bullets will host the Ngezi Under-19 side at Commando Barracks, Harare City entertaining Karoi United at Callies.
Surprise leaders PAM FC face a struggling Highrange at Gwanzura, with Marere hosting G&T Mining at Rimuka.
Golden Eagles are away to FC Oden at Chinhoyi Stadium.
The MWOS U19 team are at home to Black Mambas.
In Centenary, Zambezi Gas and Coal will be the host team against army side Black Rhinos. Rangers and Jumbo clash at Jumbo Mine, with Shamva Mine dating Chingwere at Shamva Mine.
CP Chemicals are away to Chegutu Pirates at Pfupajena.
Batanai and Banket United are the only teams that are going to play on Sunday.
This match is scheduled for Kuwadzana Stadium in Banket.
