BEDROOMS are sanctuaries . . . a place to relax, rest and escape. Your bedroom should reflect exactly that in order to achieve that sophisticated chic look.
Create a cosy and comfortable bedroom this coming year by redoing the entire space in calming neutrals.
For bigger bedrooms, a headboard will be a huge investment. It will increase the value of your room and turn it into a relaxed comfy space.
The headboard will work as a focal point that will be eye-catching hence its colour and shape should be appealing. You can be dramatic if you like by selecting a huge modern choice. You can go for a traditional one if you want.
Your bedroom walls are worthy of great paintings or portraits, just like your living room wall or any other wall.
Make it unique by personalising it. One way of doing it is to gather a collection of your family’s framed photographs on one wall . . . make a gallery wall.
You can also get a large portrait that features anything you like, be it water or trees and hang it on one side of the wall.
Again, if your space is enough create a sitting area in your bedroom. This will be beneficial especially if you want some quiet time alone, away from the family and need a place for privacy. Select a perfect area where you will get enough fresh air and relax. By so doing you will love having a spot to curl up and do nothing or read a book.
You will never go wrong by placing a mirror in your bedroom. This time go for a full length mirror that will make a statement. When placed correctly not only will it catch a glimpse of you but it will also create space. You will have a mirror that is perfect for checking outfits while amplifying as a stunning piece aesthetically. If you want to be different, you can put small mirrors one side but don’t overdo it.
Consider selecting a colour scheme in soft neutrals for your bedroom since it is a place of rest and neutrals provide a breather and a sense of calm.
Neutral colours mixed with white work perfectly. Try to minimise bright colours. Same applies to loud fabrics and textures, be it curtains or anything that require material . . . it should feel and look soft to allow a calm breeze into your space.
Avoid using carpets. In most cases, bedrooms get stuck with carpeting, regardless of the rest of the home’s flooring. If you want a chic new look, pull it up by installing hardwood flooring. If you are worried about chilly toes, add a rug beneath the bed. The look will truly be transformative.
Your bed should be simple with neutral colours.
