ZIMBABWE Cricket has recalled former captain Graeme Cremer for the T20I series against Afghanistan, bringing to an end a seven-year international hiatus for the 39-year-old legspinner.

Cremer, who last played for Zimbabwe in 2018 before stepping away from the sport, was included in the 15-member squad for the three-match series which begins in Harare on October 29.

His return comes after he recently moved back to Zimbabwe from the UAE and began playing club cricket again with the aim of a national team comeback.

The selection panel has largely maintained the group that recently went unbeaten to secure Zimbabwe’s place at the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Cremer replaces Trevor Gwandu.

Zimbabwe’s squad: Sikandar Raza (captain), Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Graeme Cremer, Brad Evans, Clive Madande, Tinotenda Maposa, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Tony Munyonga, Tashinga Musekiwa,

Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava, Brendan Taylor.
