The team had a farewell party at the ZC offices in Newlands, Harare last week.
Zimbabwe took part in the last Twenty20 World Cup but did not win.
Zimbabwe’s preparations were not ideal as the team failed to secure competitive warm up matches ahead of the tournament.
Captain Bredan Taylor, however, said enough had been done and the team could offer real competition to the favourites.
“The preparations were as good as can be, we had six weeks of intensive training which we rounded off in Bulawayo where we also had four days of practice,” said Taylor.
Taylor also said that most of the players were in good form.
Zimbabwe will step up their preparations with two warm-up games against Bangladesh and Ireland in Sri Lanka this week.
They are in the same pool with giants Sri Lanka and South Africa.
