A WOMAN, who courageously saved her 11-year-old daughter from the jaws of a crocodile, needs US$4 000 to settle hospital bills and other expenses.
Her child, Gratitude Matiko, who is still recovering from a broken hand, is not yet back at school.
She was attacked on April 17, in the Chitsungu area of Dande.
Her mother, Catherine Mambo, plunged into the river in an heroic act to save Getrude.
Gratitude was discharged from hospital last week, but has to visit the hospital every week for routine medical check-ups.
Mambo says the bills were taking their toll on her.
“Mutoro wakundiremera ndewe mabills ari kudiwa. There are some sections ekuti we are not even treated if we don’t have money.
“So far, the bill has accumulated to around US$4000.
“She (Gratitude) is still getting some medical help from doctors and I am pleading with well-wishers to help me settle the bills.”
Mambo says she is also having transport challenges.
“I have to travel every week for check-ups and it’s straining me.

“I have to thank God because dai zvino ndichingochema mwana wangu.
