MUCHINJIKE Primary School has finally opened for second term after disturbances which followed a Satanism scare.
About 10 teachers have sought transfer while three others have applied for leave in protest against headmaster Danniel Mudzamiri’s decision to accommodate a sangoma for a cleansing ceremony.
Mudzamiri’s deputy ended up being accused of all sorts of things by the sangoma.
It turned out that Mudzamiri had been fined a cow and three goals by Chief Mangwende for accusing his deputy of witchcraft.
“He accused his deputy of practising witchcraft and he was dragged to Chief Mangwende where he was fined.
“He was ordered to pay the beasts by April and he failed.
“Mudzamiri wanted the sangoma to come and claim that the Deputy Headmaster was a witch so that he would justify the claims that led him to be fined by the traditional chief.
“Teachers were being forced kudya porridge nekuseri kweruwoko by Mudzamiri.
“Some of the teachers were also accused of practising witchcraft.
“Teachers are no longer interested to continue working at the school.”
There are ten dogs which are kept at the school and used to hunt wild animals.
One of the villagers went berserk claiming to have been possessed by some spirits and destroyed two cars and the senior teachers’ house.
He has since relocated to Stoneridge in Harare after the victims lodged a police report against him.
