Cross pooh-poohs Chamisa

Outgoing MDC National Assembly representative for Bulawayo South Mr Eddie Cross says President Emmerson Mnangagwa will win in tomorrow’s election owing to the progress he has made in the past six months.

Mr Cross told an online publication on the sidelines of the commissioning of ZimCoke — a compant owned by Ziscosteel — in Redcliff on Friday that MDC-Alliance leader Mr Nelson Chamisa was unlikely to secure a majority.

“… I think Emmerson (Mnangagwa) will get a majority. I think Chamisa has done a good fight, but he is not going to win the majority. Mnangagwa has made a good beginning; this country was lost.

“The country was in the wilderness; the corruption was endemic. There was no investment. People had no confidence, but I think confidence is coming back now.”

Mr Cross, who is retiring from active politics, said President Mnangagwa should appoint competent people to Cabinet after he wins the elections.

“I think that what Emmerson has got to do is to appoint competent executives.

‘‘We don’t want corrupt people in Government.”

All surveys made public thus far have pointed to President Mnangagwa out-polling all other Presidential race contestants.
