A Harare businessman is being accused of defrauding desperate job seekers after he promised to help them get jobs in cruise ships.
Herbert Maganga, the owner of Omar Global Consultants appeared before the Harare Civil Court following the accusations that he is scamming people into paying US$1 000 claiming that the money covers everything including to get the jobs.
However, one of the victims, a student Tendai Mutapudzi demanded her money saying she did not receive the certificate.
“I want my US$ 500, which I paid for fees to get the certificate but I did not get it.
“He also told us that the money that we paid was for agent fee.
“I ended up not going to school because I saw that our seniors had not received their certificates as promised by him.
“I just want my money back and start a business with it than to just give someone my money for someone else.”
Herbert disputed the claims saying that he does not owe her anything.
“I owe her nothing because the money she paid was for her fees. There are a lot of Zimbabweans who are going to ship cruising and end up running away and that is why all Zimbabweans were blacklisted.
“She paid US$500 instead of paying US$1 00 yet she is claiming that she needs her money back.”
