CS Distributors continued with their survival fight when they beat fellow relegation candidates LSU 2-1 in a Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two league match played at the weekend.
Goals by Vusa Masina and Brendon Kanombirira sunk LSU further into the relegation deep-end. Brian Maunze was on target for the league’s basement side.
The win over the varsity boys boosted CS Distributors’ chances of survival and team manager Ambrose Mandipuyana was confident of escaping.
“We are a development side. At the start of the season, we assembled a very young side because we have a junior policy culture. The boys are young and the results did not come as we wanted, but now the boys are getting into gear and the results are beginning to come. We have challenges, largely financial, but what’s certain is the team will not be relegated. I am very positive we will survive the chop,” said Mandipuyana.
CS Distributors are now a point away from safety and enjoy a two-game winning streak, having beaten Saints Academy 1-0 last weekend.
It has been a tough season for LSU, who seem destined for relegation. The team has let in a massive 65 goals, while scoring just 12.
LSU have played 16 games and have a single point to show for their efforts and only a miracle can save them from relegation.
Meanwhile, Chicken Inn, who beat LSU 3-0 last weekend, took their ruthless form into this past weekend by crushing new boys Arenel 4-0.
