Culture Warriors win Chibuku Neshamwari Harare provincial competition

CULTURE Warriors, a Mufakose-based group, has won the 2024 edition of the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival Harare provincial final held Saturday at Padziva Camp and Caravan in Dzivarasekwa.

For their victory, the group walked away with US$2 500.

Another Mufakose ensemble Shingai Dance Troupe won the second prize.

In third place was Dzivaresekwa-based ensemble Villa Kutinya Angoni.

The second and third prize winners pocketed US$1 500 and US$1 000 respectively.

This competition was held under the theme “Tamba Tione, Gida Sibone!”

Several groups drawn from different parts of Harare took part.

The winners will now square-off with their counterparts from other provinces.

The competition’s provincial finals have been running since May 11, with the national final pencilled for July 27.

Chibuku Neshamwari is sponsored by Delta Beverages in collaboration with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) and the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dance Association (ZNTDA).
