QUEENS PARK and Western Commonage Police Stations will today lock horns in the final of the ZRP (Bulawayo) provincial football league that will be graced by the Officer Commanding the province Learn Ncube.
The event, set to be staged at AmaZulu Sports Club will also see a match between former police players and some renowned retired footballers which will be in memory of the late Mthokozisi Sibanda who died tragically in a road traffic accident in Lupane recently.
Sibanda, who was an assistant inspector in the police force, was a midfielder in the ZRP Stops team and was laid to rest at a moving funeral at West Park.
Some of the retired footballers who are expected to play include Thabani Moyo, Ronald ‘Gidiza’ Sibanda, Aubrey Sauramba, Zenzo Moyo and Sizabantu Khoza.
After the two matches, there will be a medal and kit presentation to the top three teams in the leagues, Tshabalala, Queens Park and Donnington Police Stations.
The league’s top gunman Emmanuel Zhou of PHQ who scored 36 goals will also receive an award courtesy of the law enforcement agents’ all weather sponsor Townshend and Butcher.
The police league games are played every Wednesday and are meant, among other objectives, to keep members of the force physically fit to execute their duties.
