Women hockey squad named

THE Hockey Association of Zimbabwe (HAZ) has named an 18-member women’s squad that will compete in the Africa Open Series to be staged at Kumalo Hockey Stadium on December 7-9.

Angus McVey has been named coach with Niall Milner and Kudzayi Nyabeza named as assistants while Leigh Costa will be the team manager.

Three teams; Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia will battle for honours in a round robin format with the side coming out tops being crowned champions.

Zimbabwe’s first game will be against Zambia on December 8 while facing Namibia in their last match.

All matches will start at 12noon.

The Zimbabwe men’s team, whose final squad is yet to be announced, will face Egypt, Namibia and Zambia in the same tournament.

Zimbabwe will face Zambia in their first match on December 7 followed by Egypt and Namibia on December 8 and December 9 respectively.

Zimbabwe vs Namibia (December 9)

December 7: Egypt vs Namibia (2PM), Zimbabwe vs Zambia (4PM)

December 8: Namibia vs Zambia (2PM), Egypt vs Zimbabwe (4PM)
