adminJoseph Musariri said the countries reaffirmed the need to co-operate at an annual field meeting held in Tanzania recently.
He said the annual meetings’ primary goal was to bring the regional players together to achieve networking, disseminate best practice and be able to deal with issues and challenges prevailing in the respective countries and potential ways for their resolutions using the FIATA mechanism.
Mr Musariri is also the chief executive of the Shipping and Forwarding Agents Association of Zimbabwe.
“We have agreed with our Middle East counterparts to co-operate in addressing challenges that are hindering free trade among members from these regions.
“The development is also a boost to Zimbabwe’s Look East policy as we have been getting greater co-operation from countries in Middle East,” he said.
Mr Musariri said this year’s field meeting was attended by more than 200 delegates representing around 20 countries from both regions.
He said the meeting was a prelude to the annual FIATA congress to be held in Singapore in October this year.
Mr Musariri said Zimbabwe had a two-fold purpose — to provide information about the country and its people and to bid to be hosts of the 2014 RAME field meeting.
