Work on the Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) administration block is progressing well as its full transformation from a polytechnic college to a university gathers pace.
Transformation of CUT includes the upgrading of infrastructure to meet the needs of a growing university, which now has an enrolment of around 14 000 students.
The imposing multi-storey building is expected to be the flagship structure for the institution.
CUT vice-chancellor Professor David Simbi said the building was part of the university’s transformation from a polytechnic college to a university.

“This is the transformation from a polytechnic college to a university by building requisite infrastructure on campus,” said Prof Simbi.
Workers are plastering the outer walls while window and door frames have been fitted.
CUT evolved from the Chinhoyi Technical Teachers’ College, which opened its doors in 1991 and started offering degree programmes in 1999 as a satellite of the University of Zimbabwe.
It gained full university status in 2001 and has been gradually upgrading its infrastructure to meet the new challenges.
