A Chitungwiza man has appeared in court for allegedly beating his 12-year-old son to death for stealing $20 that he had left in the house.

Sheperd Mushurwa (38) was not asked to plead when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mrs Josephine Sande charged with murder last week. He was remanded in custody to September 18.

The State led by Norman Koropi alleged that on August 31 at around 8pm, Mushurwa discovered that his $20 was missing from the bedroom where he had placed it.

He then called his first born Prince and asked him about the money and he said he had not seen it. He asked Prince to call his other brother, Prosper, who was attending a church service.

Upon arrival at the house, Mushurwa questioned Prosper about the whereabouts of the money and he confessed that he had taken the money and had already used it.
