A 41-YEAR-OLD Harare man was on Sunday arrested for assaulting his son (19) to death for failing to pass police recruitment tests.

Gibson Munyoro, a security guard, was reported to have sent his son, Ngonidzashe, to Mkushi Academy for police interviews on July 29.

On August 2, Ngonidzashe was sent back home after he was found to be unfit for police duties.

His father asked him about the failure to be recruited and his answer was not deemed to be satisfactory.

Munyoro was reported to have physically assaulted Ngonidzashe after tying his hands and legs leading to his death.

The father reportedly placed an iron bar between the legs and hands and assaulted Ngonidzashe using a baton.

Ngonidzashe reportedly shouted for help as he was being assaulted, but Munyoro threatened anyone who harboured thoughts of interfering.

The young man was only saved from further assaults upon the arrival of his mother, Ms Ruvimbo Masunga, when she was informed about the ruthless attack.

Ms Masunga restrained Munyoro, got help from other people to get him inside the house.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating a murder case involving a teenager and his biological father.

“Full details will be released in due course,” said Insp Chakanza.

Munyoro has since been arrested.
