Dad rapes teenage daughters

He denied two counts of rape when he appeared before Chitungwiza regional magis­trate Mr Temba Kuwanda.
He was convicted after a full trial.
In sentencing the man, Mr Kuwanda con­sidered that the man betrayed the trust bestowed to him as a father and that the girls would be traumatised for the rest of their lives.
Mr Kuwanda sentenced the man to 12 years in prison for each count but set aside five years on condition that the man does not commit a similar offence in the next five years.
Prosecutor Mr Luke Mutupe told the court that sometime in January 2006 the man used to share a single room with his two                                     minor daughters after separating from their mother.
He reportedly raped them during the night before their step­mother discovered sores on their bodies.
