A man from Bulawayo’s Greenhill suburb was arrested after allegedly touching his daughter’s private parts and caressing her breasts while asking her to sleep with him.
The 44-year-old man, whose name is being withheld to protect the victim, is alleged to have been drinking with his 24-year-old daughter at their home on January 31.
While they were drinking, he allegedly began acting strangely, caressing her thighs and touching her private parts. He then allegedly fondled her breasts.
He escalated his behaviour by allegedly asking her to sleep with him, but she refused.
She reportedly screamed and fled the room, running to the police station to report her father.
He pursued her, attempting to stop her, but was unsuccessful. She reported the matter, leading to his arrest.
The man appeared in court before Bulawayo magistrate Max Ncube, facing indecent assault charges.
He pleaded not guilty, claiming his daughter fabricated the story to ruin his reputation.
“This is my daughter,” he said in his defence. “I cannot sleep with her; that’s taboo. She is making up a story to destroy my reputation.”
He, however, admitted they had been drinking at home and were intoxicated. He was remanded out of custody to February 10.
